ITEM DETAILS

Date:  1940’s/ 1960’s

Maker:  Shell is likely Weil Ware and Pedestal Planter is Floraline by McCoy

This duo of ceramic pottery offers unique marine decorative details and unique glazing, one very shiny and one matte.

Art nouveau pottery featuring a fine ocean-inspired piece likely from Weil Ware who was known for their shell ceramics with pink interiors and variegated exteriors.  This piece has a very shiny exterior glazing and unique blue gray exterior variant with pink interior – very mermaid-like.  Marked “205” alongside an illegible stamp to the underside.

In June 1960, the Nelson McCoy pottery established a line of pottery for sale to the florist trade. This line of pottery was called Roseville Floraline, or Floraline for short.  Floraline pieces were marked with their own special mark as seen in this cream matte piece.  This piece is style #407 which features a pedestal base, lovely top ribbing and collarr details.

CONDITION

The Floraline is in very good condition.  The shell is beautiful but does have a crack as noted to the inside of the planter in photos.
