"Resonance Of A Night City" by Diekman - Signed

250.00

ITEM DETAILS

Artist:  Diekman (Likely MCM architect Norman Diekman)

Date:  1964

Title:  Resonance of a Night City

Medium:  Gouache, ink and acrylic paint mounted to paperboard

Signature:  Signed to the lower left

This mid century modern geometric abstract depicts various square, columnar, and triangular shapes in warm tones of orange, gold, ochre, burnt orange, honey, and spice within a dark chocolate background.  It is signed to the lower left and is titled and dated to the verso, underneath the frame paper.

TIDBIT:  Additionally, this painting and its sister piece “Macedonian Principium” were set aside with the book “Drawing Interior Architecture” by Norman Diekman and John Pile (a copy is to be included with the sale of the first or both pieces).  This little clue may mean the painting was created by Norman Diekman himself (a well known US-based MCM furniture designer and architect).

CONDITION

Very good with slight discoloration to the composition, but nothing that truly deters from the work itself.  It has a new frame, glass, and matting; professionally done.

DIMENSIONS

Composition measures 24" W x 20" H
